What is a Nappuccino? I (virtually) hear you think…
A Nappuccino is a free, informal event where expectant or new parents can gather for a coffee, a piece of cake and a presentation of the benefits of real (washable cloth) nappies. As a Real Nappy Advisor, I’ll present the three main nappy types or “systems”.
During the demonstration, each type of nappy will be passed around for you to handle and questions can be asked. The council incentive scheme will be explained and Real Nappies for London vouchers are accepted. There’s something for everyone, whatever your main concern, be it cost, or drying time or 100% natural materials. There is no hard sell or obligation to buy, although nappies, accessories and tailored kits are available.
But what’s so good about a Nappuccino? Can’t I just buy online?
Of course you can just buy online! But, in my own experience and in the experience of friends, buying online without handling nappies first can be a minefield. There are so many different types of nappies available, which is particularly daunting if you’re expecting your first baby and don’t even really know how to change a nappy yet*
A common experience is that the “wrong” type of nappies are bought online. They might be absolutely gorgeous looking all-in-ones but they take forever and a day to dry, which is just impossible for you in your tiny flat, with no tumbledryer and no outdoor space…so you just bung them in a drawer as there’s just so much else to get to grips with when you have a tiny newborn.
But if you come to a Nappuccino then you can actually get together with others considering using real nappies and get reliable advice from me before committing to purchasing any nappies. You can get some practical tips from me (who’s managed to use washables despite living in said tiny London flat, with no tumbledryers!). And the nappies I demonstrate have been tried and tested on my own baby as well as on the countless babies of Nappy Ever After customers.
*don’t worry btw, you will become an expert nappy changer in no time!
